Karen Brittain is one of the worlds best fish breeders in the marine ornamental industry. Specializing in the rare and deepwater species, she has raised many species firsts and continues to be the one and only producer of Captive Bred Hawaiian Yellow Anthias! The Odontanthias fuscipinnis, or Hawaiian Yellow Anthias, is a Hawaiian endemic. These fish originate from the deep twilight zones of Hawaiian reefs and have been exceedingly hard to collect. Even before the ban on Hawaiian fish, these fish were only collectable by advanced rebreather divers. Now with the ban in place, wild specimens are no longer an option. Rebreather diving allowed divers to frequent depths below 200ft., far too deep for traditional scuba. Rebreather diving unfortunately is incredibly dangerous which is why these fish elicit such a premium price!
