These Terms of Service apply to all users of the site, including without limitation users who are browsers, vendors, customers, merchants, and/ or contributors of content.
Marine Collectors reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without notice. We advise you to review the following terms and conditions prior to purchase.
Ordering:
Fish Services
All services require that fish are shipped as soon as our standards and protocols have been met. We do not hold fish once they are ready. They must ship immediately!
All Just the Fish (unquarantined) that are ordered will ship within 1 week of the order being placed or as soon as the specimens have been acquired.
All 14-Day Clean (quarantined) fish that are ordered are acclimated and quarantined with our ‘14-day clean protocol.’ We will cover and guarantee all fish while in quarantine, unless otherwise stated. All fish must be shipped after quarantine is complete. We will call, message, or email you to schedule shipping.
If the purchased fish are not shipped immediately after quarantine is completed and you(purchaser) have been contacted, we can not be held liable for any losses. We always care for the animals to the best of our abilities; however, remaining in medicated quarantine systems, for extended periods of time, can become detrimental to the health of the fish. It is your responsibility to be available to receive delivery of their fish. We do not have unmedicated holding systems for fish here.
We ONLY ship within the continental USA. If you place an order and reside outside of the country, and we don't catch it prior to us procuring the fish for you, you WILL NOT be refunded. If you would like us to ship to a remote location, within the USA, that can be coordinated.
Product information
Fish listed as “available” or “in stock”on the Marine Collectors website are accessible or available to be sourced. Online availability does not mean fish are currently in-house and available to ship. Depending on the protocols chosen, and the collection that the fish belongs to, fish will ship at varying times.
Purchasing
Make sure you are 100% committed to the fish you are purchasing before placing an order. Marine Collectors handpicks fish to order. It is always best to do research on the fish you're looking to purchase before ordering. Once a fish is sourced, they must be taken. We do not issue refunds, cancellations, exchanges, or indulge in any form of buyer's remorse once fish have been sourced.
You are paying for the service of Marine Collectors to acquire, handpick, and/or quarantine fish for you, not purchasing off the shelf items.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL! If you are unsure of your purchase, we strongly recommend not placing an order.
Shipping
- Marine Collectors does not issue shipping refunds
- If you would like to add fish to an existing order to reduce shipping costs, you must contact us directly within five days of placing the original order and we will edit your order for you. Please do not place a second order then ask to be refunded shipping costs.

Disclaimer
We take pride in what we do, but as we are a commercial facility, perfect biosecurity is impossible to maintain. While we do our best, it is impossible for us to guarantee 100% clean and pathogen-free fish, 100% of the time. We will never knowingly send unhealthy fish.
To follow best practices, we recommend putting your new fish, after you receive them, into a sterile observation tank (separate from your main tank), for a minimum of 2 weeks to ensure that quarantine was effective and the fish are parasite free. After you receive your fish, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for the care and well-being of the fish once they have been delivered.
Marine Collectors is not liable for any contamination or losses that may occur to your new or existing fish.
Order Rules
By placing an order with Marine Collectors you understand and acknowledge that:
- All fish orders are subject to acquisition and/or quarantine time.
- While Marine Collector's estimated timeline for quarantine orders is 2 to 6 weeks, quarantine is a variable process - completion times may vary and take longer.
- You have reviewed all descriptions, specifications, and care information on the product page of the fish you are ordering and can provide it’s necessary care.
Large Orders
- Any order that contains more than four quarantined fish may be delivered in multiple shipments at the discretion of Marine Collectors. This is to limit overexposure to fish in medications.
- Marine Collectors will contact you to schedule each shipment, each additional shipment will be free of charge if the item order total is over $499, thereby qualifying for free shipping.
- In the case of large orders, fish will not be held at the buyer's request to reduce shipments. Shipments will be organized to prioritize the wellbeing of all fish we provide.
Changing Orders
- Fish sizes can be changed prior to us acquiring the purchased fish. You must notify us immediately if you would like to change sizes. Once fish have been acquired, we can not change sizes.
- If you would like to add additional fish to your order, you must contact Marine Collectors directly within five days of placing an order. Otherwise, additional fish must ship separately.
Extended Guarantees:
Fish Happens, and you're covered!
All Stock Fish, Collectors Chamber, and Signature Fish purchases are covered by our Fish Happens guarantee; unless otherwise stated.
- If the fish you purchase does not arrive alive, or remain alive for 72 hours from delivery we will gladly credit your account.
- In the case of a loss, you are required to file a claim on our website to redeem the guarantee.
Policy Rules:
- We need a photo, so don’t flush that fish till you snap a quick picture.
- We do not cover ‘disappearing fish’ or casualties due to aggressive tank-mates or aquarium structural/functional issues.
- Store credit is issued for the purchase price of the lost fish only (shipping costs are not credited).
- Store credit can be used to purchase a replacement, or to purchase any other fish on our site.
- Guarantee may only be redeemed once per fish, per customer.
- Fish Happens does not apply to Adoption Fish or special orders otherwise specified. No Exceptions.
- We do not cover shipping costs for replacement fish.
